To perform a variety of cleaning activities in assigned buildings/facilities, keeping them in a clean, sanitary, and orderly condition and to perform other tasks related to the area of assignment.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- High Dusting: Using a treated high duster, begin cleaning in a counter-clockwise direction around the room - high dust surfaces above shoulder height, i.e., lights above doors, curtain tips, vents, and ledges. Clean surfaces below shoulder height with a germicidal solution.
- Bathroom Cleaning: Wipe down surfaces above and below the sink, toilet seat, and the outside of the toilet bowl. Clean the inside of the toilet with a Johnnie Mop and proper germicidal solution.
- Empty Trash Cans: If liquid is inside the can, remove the liner, wipe the trash can, and place a clean liner in the trash can.
- Floor Dusting or Vacuuming: Use a treated dust mophead and vacuum, ensuring to clean under furniture and in restrooms.
- Outside Areas: Clean and check several times during the day, empty and clean ash urns and trash cans, and spot clean spills.
- Public Common Areas: Dust mop and spot mop main hallways, clean glass several times a day, and check for cobwebs.
- Food Court: Clean, remove trash, and sanitize tables, empty trash cans, and police outside eating areas.
- Your Inspection: Review cleaning steps and visually check furniture placement after completing the room.
- Customer Relations and Service: Knock lightly on doors before entering, be friendly and helpful to customers, and report anything broken or out of order.
Performs other duties as assigned or directed by supervisor and/or Account Manager (this could include, but is not limited to, floor care - stripping and waxing floors, extraction and bonneting of carpets, auto scrub and buffing of floors).
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of:
- Basic operations of janitorial work.
- Basic methods, materials, and equipment used in janitorial work.
- Basic safe work practices.
- The use of toxic and non-toxic chemicals (per MSDS sheets).
Ability to:
- Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Communicate effectively with co-workers and supervisors.
- Operate powered and non-powered janitorial equipment.
- Interpret written instructions and warning labels on cleaning chemicals.
- Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties which may include the following:
- Walking, standing, or sitting for extended periods.
- Lifting/carrying 1-30 lbs. of equipment, supplies, and trash.
- Climbing stairs and ladders while cleaning upper areas.
- Bending/twisting/balancing at waist, knees, neck throughout the shift.
- Reaching, handling, grasping, and fingering while operating equipment.
