Primary Purpose

To perform a variety of cleaning activities in assigned buildings/facilities, keeping them in a clean, sanitary, and orderly condition, and to perform other tasks related to the area of assignment.

Essential Responsibilities

• High Dusting: Using a treated high duster, clean high surfaces above shoulder height, such as lights, vents, and ledges, in a counter-clockwise direction. Gently brush the duster into the service cart after use.
• Sanitizing / Spot Cleaning: Use germicidal solutions to sanitize surfaces below shoulder height, clean fingerprints, smudges, and spot clean windows.
• Bathroom Cleaning: Wipe down surfaces with germicidal solution, clean the inside of toilets with a Johnnie Mop, check and refill soap and paper dispensers, and empty trash cans.
• Floor Dusting or Vacuuming: Dust with a treated mophead, starting from the back of the room, and vacuum, starting from the back to the door, ensuring to clean under furniture.
• Grounds Care: Outside areas should be checked and cleaned several times a day, including trash removal and cleaning sidewalks, flower beds, and parking lots.
• Public Common Areas: Dust mop and spot mop hallways, clean glass, and maintain planters and cobwebs.
• Food Court: Clean and sanitize tables, remove trash, wash trays, and police outside eating areas.
• Floor Sanitizing: Use germicidal solutions to mop floors thoroughly, including under furniture and behind doors.
• Your Inspection: Review your work steps, check furniture placement, and ensure cleanliness after each room.
• Customer Relations and Service: Be courteous, answer questions, report issues, work quietly, maintain personal appearance, and report incomplete work to your supervisor.
• Perform other duties as assigned, including floor care and carpet cleaning.

Qualifications

Knowledge of: Basic janitorial operations, materials, equipment, safe work practices, and chemical handling per MSDS.

Ability to: Follow instructions, communicate effectively, operate cleaning equipment, interpret chemical labels, and maintain physical stamina for tasks involving walking, lifting, bending, reaching, and climbing.
