Description

As a Dietary Aide, you will play a vital role in supporting the nutritional needs and overall well-being of our residents. Your primary responsibility will be to assist with meal preparation, service, and cleanup in accordance with the community's dietary guidelines and regulations. This position requires physical stamina and the ability to perform tasks that involve standing, bending, lifting, and carrying.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Meal Preparation: Assist the dietary team in preparing and portioning meals according to established menus and dietary guidelines. This may include chopping vegetables, preparing salads, and assembling meal trays.
  • Meal Service: Help with the efficient and timely delivery of meals to residents. Set up dining areas, arrange tables, and ensure that residents' individual dietary requirements are met during service.
  • Resident Assistance: Provide support to residents who require assistance with dining, including serving meals, cutting food, and accommodating special dietary needs as directed by the dietary manager or resident's care plan.
  • Sanitation and Cleanliness: Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including food preparation areas, dining rooms, and kitchen equipment. Follow proper sanitation and safety procedures to uphold food handling and infection control standards.
  • Inventory Management: Assist in monitoring and restocking food supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels are maintained. Notify the dietary manager of any shortages or items requiring replenishment.
  • Compliance: Adhere to all applicable health, safety, and dietary regulations, including state and federal guidelines. Follow proper procedures for food storage, labeling, and disposal to maintain a safe and hygienic environment.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate with other dietary staff members, including cooks, nutritionists, and kitchen assistants, to ensure smooth and efficient operations. Communicate effectively with team members to provide quality dining experiences for residents.
  • Ensures that food is served and maintained at the correct temperature.
  • Maintains temperature logs.
  • Is knowledgeable in food safety, sanitation, and time & temperature requirements.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform tasks that involve bending, lifting, carrying, and pushing carts.
  • Lift and move heavy objects, such as trays, food containers, and kitchen equipment, up to a certain weight limit as determined by safety guidelines.
  • Navigate through the facility, including narrow spaces and uneven surfaces, while safely carrying food trays or other items.
  • Demonstrate physical stamina to meet the demands of a fast-paced and physically active work environment.
Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in a food service or healthcare setting is preferred but not always required.
