Position Overview

Carpenter Co. is seeking a Spotter/Local CDL A Truck Driver on 2nd shift at our Elkhart, IN manufacturing plant. The role involves effective communication with dock personnel, safe trailer movements, and local deliveries. The starting hourly pay rate is $31.64, with an additional $2.00 shift premium for 2nd shift.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-trip checks on trailers to ensure compliance with DOT and company standards.
• Report damage and unsafe conditions.
• Coordinate trailer movements with dock staff and drivers.
• Safely move trailers and complete local deliveries as needed.
• Assist with fueling and cleaning equipment.
• Maintain safety standards and equipment cleanliness.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Valid Class A CDL with 6 months to 1 year of driving experience.
• Ability to pass DOT physical and drug tests.
• Flexible availability including overtime, holidays, and weekends.
