OVERVIEW

At The Urban Cowboy Downtown Bar, the Manager on Duty (MOD) plays a vital role in ensuring smooth operations and exceptional guest experiences during shifts. Acting as the on-site manager in the absence of exempt managers, the MOD oversees service standards, addresses guest concerns, and supports staff performance. This role focuses on real-time problem-solving, team leadership, and maintaining brand standards throughout service.

General Manager

SALARY + HOURS EXPECTATIONS

• $25 an Hour
• 30-40 hours weekly
• Weekday and weekend availability required

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Act as a manager in the absence of the General Manager, overseeing service and guest experience.
• Serve as the point person for guest issues, addressing concerns promptly and professionally.
• Uphold brand standards across all areas, ensuring consistency in service and presentation.
• Support the team during service, assisting where needed to maintain smooth operations.
• Maintain a clean and organized environment, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Carry out all tasks with an attention to detail, cleanliness, and safety while maintaining an enjoyable and clean environment for guests and team.
• Ability to multitask (ie converse with guests while making drinks)
• Work efficiently and maintain a reasonable pace of service at all times.
• Engage with all guests in a timely, professional and friendly manner.
• Work to uphold and enforce all necessary legal statutes at all times.
• Serve safely and appropriately any alcohol by monitoring intake and communicating with staff and management when there are issues or needs.
• Fill in for absent staff as needed, assist with special events as needed.
• Adhere to grooming and appearance standards consistently.
• Ability to honor your schedule, show up on time and clock in and out, put in requests for time off with appropriate notice.
• Ability to fluently work the POS system, as well as responsibly and accurately handle cash payments.
• Must be able to follow written and verbal communication skills in English, as well as nonverbal communications in a fast paced environment.
• Ability to work independently and efficiently with attention to detail.
• Previous manager experience in a fast paced environment preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Ability to handle physical workload, including bending, stooping, and lifting for up to 75% of your scheduled shift.
• Ability to stand for 100% of your scheduled shift.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, maneuver in narrow hallways, up and down small stairways and behind the bar.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Physically strenuous, standing, lifting, kneeling, stooping, walking and stair climbing throughout the entire shift.
• Loud environment with low lighting in some areas and bright lights in others.
• No driving required.
