Our Assistant Store Managers are at the front lines, providing friendly customer service and offering the best selection of pet care products. You will contribute to the store’s success by assisting the Store Manager in executing store operations, managing Shift Managers, Shift Leads, and Sales Associates to ensure world-class service.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Sales Leadership

• Assist in driving sales, service, and customer experience initiatives to meet sales and performance goals.
• Monitor customer service and selling models, resolve complaints, and direct work as needed.
• Recognize and celebrate team efforts and accomplishments.
• Maintain professionalism and a positive attitude, communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

Customer Excellence

• Maintain a safe, clean environment; care for livestock and protect company assets.
• Coach and develop team members focused on customer experience and sales.
• Distribute store communications and uphold company values.

Operations & Talent Development

• Maintain brand standards and operational excellence.
• Assist with inventory management, ordering, and budgeting.
• Create a team-oriented environment and support training and development.
• Participate in hiring, performance management, and community engagement initiatives.

Business Insight

• Monitor store performance throughout the shift and respond to business needs.

Experience, Education, Certifications

• Minimum 2 years retail management experience
• Enjoy working with animals
• College degree preferred

Job Requirements

• Flexible schedule including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Ability to work a rotating schedule with specific shifts and weekends
• Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

• Heavy lifting up to 55 lbs, physical activity required
• Mostly standing and moving, active listening and observation needed
• Work in a temperature-controlled environment; occasional solo work; pet-related injuries possible
