Position: Hotline Worker, Summer (Aug-Sep)
Terms: Temporary, $25.00/hour
Reports to: Senior Director, Welcome Services

Role Summary

The Welcome Centers serve as hubs of information and communication for current, incoming, and prospective families. Hotline Workers will provide excellent customer service via email, in person, or phone inquiries, and may assist with in-person registrations during peak times.

Responsibilities
  • Assist families with registration and related activities.
  • Answer inquiries, research issues, and document complaints from parents, staff, and the community.
  • Provide accurate information about registration, school choice, and assignment processes.
  • Deliver superior customer service following Welcome Center standards.
  • Use Aspen, BPS email, Google Docs, Excel, and other applications.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including in-person registration during peak periods.
Minimum Requirements
  • Resident of Boston
  • High school diploma
  • Typing speed of 40-50 words per minute
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and data analysis tools
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to interact with diverse populations
  • Self-starter capable of working independently
  • Availability to work outside usual hours, including evenings and weekends
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. from day one
Preferred Skills
  • Proficiency in additional languages such as Spanish, Cape Verdean, Portuguese, French, Arabic, Chinese, Somali, Vietnamese, Haitian Creole
Work Schedule

Positions are seasonal, with peak hours in January and from July to mid-September. Must meet Boston residency requirements. Salary details available on BPS website.
