Job summary

Highgate Hotels is seeking an Engineer, Level 1, to keep The Gregorian Hotel in top condition with minimal guest disruption. You will perform routine HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry tasks across a busy New York property.

Responsibilities include repairs, preventive maintenance, equipment readings, and documenting work. Strong communication and ability to multitask are essential for delivering courteous service to guests and team members.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent and/or experience in a hotel or related field required.
  • At least one year of progressive experience in a hotel or related field preferred.
  • Trade school and/or College course work in related field helpful.
  • Must communicate effectively with guests and staff; attentive and service oriented.

Responsibilities

  • Make repairs to hotel air conditioning system: change filters, clean coils, replace motors.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on all equipment (i.e. boilers, chillers, HVAC, electrical).
  • Take required readings on equipment and test cooling tower.
  • Replace and program televisions as needed; replace light switches, outlets, bulbs and fixtures.
  • Perform plumbing repairs and fix leaks; read blueprints and wiring diagrams.
  • Trace and repair water lines; troubleshoot kitchen equipment.
  • Maintain repair and preventive maintenance records; comply with codes.
  • Test, clean and repair pools/spas; paint designated areas; repair sheetrock and wall coverings.
  • Repair and program hotel electronic lock system.
