Job description

The Le Meridien Sheraton Charlotte Hotel is currently seeking individuals for the position of General Maintenance Engineer to join our team at our StepStone Hospitality managed hotel. As our Maintenance Engineer 3, you will maintain the hotel's assets through ongoing preventative maintenance programs and ensure that all mechanical systems operate according to the hotel's and StepStone Hospitality's standards. You will promote quality service to achieve maximum guest satisfaction. Scheduled hours will vary weekly between Monday and Sunday, including weekdays, weekends, and holidays.

The role is on the 1st shift; schedule will be discussed.

The Engineer 3 role in a hotel setting is often a senior or highly specialized position, requiring expertise in managing complex systems, leading maintenance initiatives, and overseeing other engineering staff. The Engineer III often acts as a deputy to the Assistant Chief Engineer or Chief Engineer.

Responsibilities include:

1. Leading and executing complex maintenance and repair projects, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and building automation systems.
2. Supporting the Chief Engineer in overseeing daily engineering operations and providing direction to engineering staff.
3. Developing and implementing comprehensive preventive maintenance programs for all critical hotel systems, ensuring compliance with brand standards and safety regulations.
4. Troubleshooting and resolving advanced mechanical, electrical, and technical issues to minimize downtime and impact on guest experience.
5. Coordinating with contractors, vendors, and suppliers for outsourced maintenance and repair projects, ensuring quality standards are met.
6. Mentoring and providing technical training to Engineer I and II team members, fostering skill development and safety adherence.
7. Maintaining records of maintenance activities, inspections, safety protocols, and inventory for efficient operations and compliance.
8. Performing minor and routine maintenance activities such as painting, plumbing, electrical wiring, and replacing air conditioner filters.
9. Tending to heating, cooling, and hot water systems, including furnaces, air conditioners, and boilers.
10. Maintaining standards of quality guest service and responding to guest requests, complaints, or questions courteously and promptly.

Pay rate: $24/hour

Requirements include:

• Minimum lifting of 70 pounds.
• Pushing, bending, stooping, upward reaching, and manual dexterity.
• Hearing, writing, and typing abilities.
• Minimum pulling of 70 pounds.
• Other duties as assigned.
