Job summary

Candlewood Suites St. Louis – St. Charles by IHG in Missouri is seeking a Houseman to support housekeeping and maintenance tasks. You will help keep public areas clean, deliver supplies, assist room attendants, and participate in preventive maintenance.

No prior experience required; training provided. Basic engineering skills, reliability, and the ability to lift up to 25 pounds are important. You will work with the team to ensure safety, cleanliness, and guest satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Previous housekeeping or hotel support experience preferred.
• Basic engineering or maintenance experience required.
• Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry heavy items.
• Flexible schedule including weekends and holidays as needed.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the cleanliness of public areas, including lobbies, hallways, restrooms, fitness centers, meeting rooms, and outdoor areas.
• Remove trash, vacuum carpets, sweep/mop floors, and dust surfaces.
• Deliver linens, supplies, and amenities to housekeeping staff and guest floors.
• Assist room attendants by stripping rooms, removing linens, and organizing supplies.
• Ensure back-of-house areas remain clean and orderly.
• Perform simple repairs such as replacing light bulbs, tightening fixtures, repairing toilet handles, painting, and addressing minor plumbing issues.
• Assist engineers with preventive maintenance tasks when needed.
• Identify, report, and help resolve maintenance issues throughout the property.
• Operate basic maintenance tools safely and follow safety procedures.
• Respond promptly to guest requests and provide friendly, professional assistance.
• Support special projects such as deep cleaning, moving furniture, room setups, and event support.
• Maintain the cleanliness and organization of storage rooms, carts, and equipment.
• Adhere to all brand standards, safety guidelines, and cleanliness protocols.
• Maintain cleanliness in public areas, guest spaces, and hotel grounds.
• Comply with all safety and sanitation guidelines to maintain a secure environment.
• Assist with floor care, including vacuuming, mopping, and carpet cleaning.
• Greet guests warmly and assist with any reasonable requests.
• Safely handle and dispose of trash and recycling throughout hotel premises.
