Job summary

The Wolseley New York Hotel is seeking a Chief Engineer to lead the Engineering function, ensuring safe, efficient and reliable operation of all building systems while delivering guest comfort and safety.

You will manage preventive maintenance, capital projects, compliance with OSHA/FDNY/DOB, lead a unionised team, control the budget, and coordinate with contractors, vendors and hotel leadership. Fluent English and NYC code expertise required.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Chief Engineer or senior engineering leader within a hotel environment.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in hotel engineering operations.
• Strong technical knowledge of HVAC, electrical and plumbing systems.
• FSLD certification (required).
• In-depth knowledge of NYC building codes and regulations.
• Experience working in a union environment (highly preferred).
• Strong leadership, organisation and communication skills.
• Fluent English.

Responsibilities

• Ensure fire, health and safety compliance across the site.
• Guarantee operation of all fire, life and safety systems.
• Plan and oversee preventive maintenance and capital projects.
• Lead capital projects and liaise with contractors and ownership.
• Drive energy efficiency and cost-saving measures.
• Prepare and manage the Engineering budget with Finance.
• Lead and develop the unionised engineering team and scheduling.
• Maintain documentation for inspections, permits and certifications.
• Stay current with technical and regulatory developments.
