Job summary

Long Island Hyatt-LIH is seeking a skilled Hotel Engineer to respond quickly to service calls, diagnose defects, and coordinate repairs across HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and related systems. The role demands reading blueprints, adherence to codes, and collaboration with multiple departments.

Ideal candidates have hotel maintenance experience, vocational training or certification, and strong communication. This on-site position offers an hourly pay rate and requires physical stamina for office

Qualifications

Previous hotel engineering experience required, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, commercial kitchen and general building construction.
Understand and efficiently maintain and operate advanced electrical, plumbing, refrigeration and boiler systems.
Read and understand blueprints, schematic drawings and technical parts breakdown.
Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
High work ethic and self-initiative.

Responsibilities

Respond to all service calls within half hour from time call is received.
Determine defects, troubleshoot malfunctions, take corrective action for guest-related or high-priority issues, and record actions.
Follow departmental procedures for repair, maintenance, alteration and installation work.
Comply with local, state and federal codes and requirements.
Coordinate with electricians, carpenters, painters and night engineers to complete service work.
