Job summary

Long Island Hyatt-LIH is hiring a full-time Hotel Maintenance Engineer to keep our guest areas and back-of-house systems running smoothly on Long Island, NY. You will respond to service calls, troubleshoot HVAC, electrical, plumbing and boiler issues, and coordinate with electricians, carpenters and other trades to complete repairs.

Applicants should have hotel maintenance experience, state licensure or certifications where required, and the physical ability to work in an office/maintenance

Qualifications

• HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and boiler systems experience required.
• Read blueprints and schematics; able to troubleshoot and repair.
• Strong communication and self-initiative.

Responsibilities

• Respond to service calls within 30 minutes.
• Troubleshoot defects and take corrective action.

• Ensure compliance with codes and safety requirements.

What you will be doing

• Respond to all service calls within half hour from time call is received.
• Determine defects, trouble-shoot malfunctions, take immediate necessary corrective action if guest related/top priority or scheduled for completion within 2 days and record same on the departmental work order form.
• Follow specific departmental procedures in efficiently performing repair, maintenance, alteration and installation work.
• Comply with the latest local, county, state and federal governmental codes, laws and requirements.
• Coordinate with other department personnel such as electrician, carpenter, painter and night engineer in completing service, replacement, alteration and new installation work.

Pay: $24.00 / Per Hour

Requirements

What we are looking for

• Previous hotel engineering experience required, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, commercial kitchen and general building construction
• Vocational training, associate's degree, certification and/or apprenticeship in one or more area; state certification or licensure where required
• Understand and efficiently maintain and operate advanced electrical, plumbing, refrigeration and boiler systems.
• Read and understand blueprints, schematic drawings and technical parts breakdown.
• Good communication skills, both verbal and written
• High work ethic and self-initiative
• Physical Requirements (In-Office Role)
• Ability to work in a standard office environment.
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. (6-8 hours a day)
• Occasional standing and walking throughout the workday.
• Frequent fine motor skills, use of hands and fingers for keyboarding/typing, utilizing a mouse or trackpad, writing, and operating office equipment.
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
• Occasionally required to stand, walk, bend, reach, or carry items.
• Ability to lift and/or move 10–25 pounds as needed (e.g., files, office supplies).
• Visual ability to read from a computer screen and printed materials including close visual focus for extended periods and color differentiation (for certain roles).
• Ability to hear and participate in conversations and meetings, use phone and/or headset
