Job summary

Job description

Overview

The Hotel Cook plays a key role in preparing high-quality menu items while maintaining the standards of cleanliness, organization, and food safety expected in a professional kitchen. This position is responsible for cooking dishes according to established recipes, preparing ingredients, monitoring product quality, and supporting smooth kitchen operations during service periods.

Responsibilities

Primary duties of this position include:

  • Prepare food items according to recipes and kitchen standards using grills, stovetops, or other cooking equipment
  • Inspect ingredients to confirm freshness and quality before use
  • Maintain a clean, sanitized, and organized workstation throughout the shift
  • Assemble and present menu items to ensure they meet appearance and portion standards before being served
  • Monitor food while cooking, adjusting heat, stirring, or turning items as needed to ensure proper preparation
  • Prepare ingredients for service, including tasks such as chopping vegetables, trimming meats, and portioning items
  • Ensure food products and kitchen supplies are properly labeled and stored according to food safety guidelines
  • Set up kitchen stations with necessary tools, equipment, and ingredients before service begins
  • Track ingredient levels and notify leadership when supplies need replenishment
  • Restock ingredients and supplies as needed to maintain kitchen efficiency
  • Assist with additional kitchen duties or operational tasks as assigned
