Job summary

Hotel Chocolat in Long Beach, CA is seeking a Sales Supervisor to partner with the Store Manager to deliver exceptional customer experience, operational excellence and financial results for the store.

You will lead a team, execute the retail strategy, run tastings, manage stock, and ensure health and safety standards while representing the brand to customers and stakeholders.

This position will be located at 2nd and PCH in Long Beach, CA.

The Hotel Chocolat Sales Supervisor is responsible for working in partnership with the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager to deliver an exceptional customer experience, operational excellence and deliver the financial results planned for the business. The core accountability is to provide on-site leadership to ensure the consistent delivery of results and service to the Hotel Chocolat Consumers.

JOB ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership – This role works collaboratively with the regional/cluster Assistant Store Manager(s) to deliver the retail strategy within their store location. Provide exemplory leadership that drives a high performing engaged team and consistently embeds the Hotel Chocolat culture into the team and environment. Demonstrate approachability and maintain an open door communication philosophy mirroring our People Pledge and Authenticity, Originality and Ethics Values.

Customer Experience - Optimise sales through effective customer experience and selling techniques. Ensure the delivery of exceptional customer service to each and every guest though product knowledge, selling skills and experiential elements specific to the location. Manage team and self to achieve exceptional customer service as defined by the brand and measured by secret shopper reports and sales performance

Brand – Represents the brand and location externally with stakeholders, mall leadership and in the community as required. Partners with Visual, Marketing and Operations to ensure executional excellence in processes within the store. Share and develop your retail and cocoa knowledge to give all our customers a consistent customer experience.

Product knowledge – Responsible for learning our range of products including the variety of products and categories we sell, how we grow cocoa and manufacture our products, allergens and our commitments to sustainability and ethics. Will also be running tasting sessions and demonstrations for customers of products.

Stock – Working with the team on receiving deliveries, adhering to H&S guidelines, and ensuring stock is safely secured in stockroom areas. On the shop floor, responsible for ensuring stock is presented appropriately according to guidelines, kept clean and tidy and best before dates are adhered. Maintain inventory control and accuracy to reduce shrink and reduce store expenses

Operations

Ensure Health & Safety compliance through effective Daily Operations. Maintain outstanding hygiene & cleanliness standards throughout the store. Maintain all aspects of store security in accordance with company policies & procedures (example: Cash, Stock, IT, Buildings, H&S). Be responsible for the opening and closing procedures for the store & all business requirements whilst holding the store and Keys. Evaluate store operations budgets and provide recommendations to Store Manager for greater efficiencies; responsible for the successful implementation of operational continuous improvement.

Team

Assess, develop and coach associates. Manage staffing levels in the store through effective zone scheduling based on business needs and budgets. Drive associate engagement daily and partner with Store Manager on engagement sessions and execution of impact plans. Direct and motivate team to meet or exceed objectives and store performance metrics. Execute consistent measurement standards for associate performance.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Customer Service – 2+ years experience of working in customer service is essential. A positive attitude and desire to work in a customer facing environment are of greater importance. Previous retail leadership experience a plus.
  • Teamwork – can demonstrate previous experience of working as part of a team to achieve a shared goal or target. Understands that working in retail means being flexible to support colleagues and workload according to needs.
  • Merchandising skills – Able to identify product types and use guidelines to ensure displays are well presented and stocked according to specifications, seasonal promotions, and special offers. Inventory Management experience preferred.
  • Communication – asks relevant questions to ensure they are listening carefully to customers individual needs and reacting accordingly. Adapting their style to different customer types. Communicates openly and honestly with respect and clarity with colleagues and manager.
  • Product knowledge – able to learn about a diverse range of products but also able to understand the background to those products- how they’re grown and produced as well as a passion for cocoa, and a strong desire to learn about people’s differing tastes and any relevant allergens. Always ready to learn about new products and innovations as they are introduced.

The base pay range for this position at commencement of employment is between the range listed below, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position will include variable pay, medical and dental benefits, participation in 401k plan, and paid time off benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an applicant receives an offer of employment.

The pay range listed is applicable to IL:USD 22.42 - USD 30.83
