Job summary

Sonesta International Hotels is hiring a Staff Accountant to join our dynamic finance team in Miami. The role focuses on daily accounting activities, GL journal entries, and balance sheet reconciliation, with emphasis on revenue reconciliation between Opera PMS and financial systems.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years of general accounting experience, a Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting, strong GAAP knowledge, and expert Excel skills.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of general accounting and financial record keeping (hospitality industry preferred).
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and ability to research and apply standards.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills to organize, manipulate, and analyze large data sets.
• Proactive communication with hotel accounting staff, vendors, and internal customers.

Responsibilities

• Performs daily revenue reconciliation between Opera PMS trial balance and GL; approves journals.
• Prepares and posts journal entries during month-end close, including accruals and adjustments.
• Produces balance sheet reconciliation workpapers for review.
• Assists with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial statements.
• Supports financial audits with applicable work papers and documentation.
• Maintains records of financial activity in accordance with GAAP and standards.
