Job summary

Silk Road Technologies Canada is seeking a Production Supervisor to oversee and coordinate activities of production areas to maximize efficiency and profit, either personally or through coordinators.

The role requires leading production personnel, controlling overtime and expenses, enforcing safety, and driving continuous improvement in line with MIOSHA standards and company procedures.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university, or 5+ years of related experience.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience acceptable.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Supervises and coordinates activities of production areas to obtain optimum efficiency and economy of operations and maximize profits by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate coordinators.

JOB TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following job/task functions have been identified as the core functions of this position. However, the supervisor or manager may assign additional duties associated with this position.

  • S upervises, coordinates and prioritizes activities of Production Coordinators to meet customer, plant and management requirements
  • Supervises, coordinates and prioritizes activities of production personnel to meet customer, plant and management requirements
  • Supervises overall plant performance for production and quality standards
  • Control and minimize labor overtime, premium freight and repair expenses
  • Provide leadership and training to accomplish Company goals and objectives
  • Implements and maintains preventive maintenance programs
  • Reviews / inspects orderliness and housekeeping to maintain company standards
  • Punctual and regular attendance is required
  • Maintains a high level of confidentiality in all duties
  • Performs all duties and operates machinery & equipment according to MIOSHA standards and company procedures using required safety equipment (gloves, sleeves, ear plugs, etc.)
  • Assumes other duties as directed by supervisor

Managerial:

  • Manages subordinate associates.Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of Production.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training associates; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Enforces MIOSHA and company safety regulations
  • For the most part, is capable of performing activities of direct reports
  • Participates in continuous improvement activities

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or five years plus related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Experience with manufacturing methods, process improvement programs and procedures
  • Proficient in machine / equipment troubleshooting and repair
  • Knowledge of SPC
  • Proficient with work instructions and standards

PREFERRED ADDITIONAL SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Responsible for reading and understanding the IATF16949, ISO9001:2015 and ISO-14001procedures located at K:/winapps/data/TS Team/Quality System Documentation

PHYSICAL DEMANDS, WORK ENVIRONMENT AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Duties include but are not limited to stand, walk, twist, bend, lift, see, talk and hear, with an ability to travel.When visiting plant site locations, employees may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, vibration or hazardous materials.
