Job summary

Arconic Corporation is seeking a Hot Rolling Mechanical/Process Engineer to provide technical leadership across Global Rolled Products manufacturing. You will optimize hot rolling operations, troubleshoot advanced equipment issues, and drive continuous improvement to safety, quality, productivity, and cost performance.

In this role you will partner with plant operations, engineering teams, vendors, and cross-functional stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years manufacturing or process engineering experience.
• Minimum of 3 years supporting hot rolling or metals processes.
• Experience with capital project planning, justification, and startup support.
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and continuous improvement.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD or similar CAD software.

Job description

The Hot Rolling Mechanical/Process Engineer provides technical leadership and engineering expertise to support manufacturing operations across Arconic's Global Rolled Products business. This role serves as a subject matter expert for hot rolling processes and is responsible for developing and implementing best practices, optimizing manufacturing systems, troubleshooting complex process and equipment issues, and driving continuous improvement initiatives that enhance safety, quality, productivity, reliability, and cost performance.

Working closely with plant operations, engineering teams, vendors, and cross-functional stakeholders, the engineer identifies opportunities to improve product quality, increase capacity, reduce operating costs, and improve equipment reliability. The position supports capital improvement projects from concept through implementation, facilitates technology transfer across manufacturing locations, and provides technical training and mentorship to engineers, operators, and other technical personnel.

The Hot Rolling Mechanical/Process Engineer serves as a key technical resource for rolling technology, leading problem-solving efforts, conducting technical assessments, evaluating new technologies, and supporting strategic manufacturing initiatives. Success in this role requires strong technical expertise, analytical and problem-solving skills, effective communication, and the ability to work collaboratively across diverse teams and manufacturing cultures.

This position reports to the Manager of Rolling Technology/Process Engineering and requires the ability to travel domestically and internationally (approximately 25-50%) to support manufacturing facilities and business objectives.

In this role, you will:

• Optimize hot rolling processes and equipment to improve safety, quality, productivity, and capacity.
• Troubleshoot complex process and equipment issues at manufacturing facilities.
• Lead and support cross-functional problem-solving teams and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Develop and deploy standard practices for hot rolling operations.

• Support and provide engineering expertise for capital improvement projects.
• Prepare project estimates, technical justifications, and implementation plans for capital investments.
• Participate in technical assessments of facilities and equipment.
• Provide technical training, mentoring, and process expertise to manufacturing personnel.
• Manage and coordinate external vendors supporting engineering and technical services.
• Support process control, equipment reliability, and operational excellence initiatives across manufacturing locations.

You have: (required)

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of manufacturing or process engineering experience.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience supporting hot rolling operations or related metals manufacturing processes.
• Experience with capital project planning, justification, implementation, and startup support.
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment systems, and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD or similar CAD software.
• Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
• This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. §730, et seq.) and/or the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Authorizations from the relevant government agency may be required to meet export control compliance requirements.
