Job description

Prepare all hot food items for both patient and non-patient food services, following all production plans and recipes as assigned by the Executive Chef, Food & Nutrition Supervisor, or Production Leader.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • Assist in tray assembly and prepare special diet needs (puree meals, supplements, or non-patient services).
  • Know basic food preparation techniques including receiving, storing, preparation, and holding of food items.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of food service sanitation and infection control practices, including HAACP guidelines.
  • Communicate effectively regarding patient, non-patient, or department needs to the team.
  • Help in other kitchen areas as needed (cold prep, bakery, store room, café, dish room, tray line).
  • Maintain regular, punctual attendance according to policies.
  • Ensure compliance with all organizational policies and procedures.

Other Related Functions:

  • Participate in departmental AQ/QI activities.
  • Follow all departmental rules and regulations.
  • Follow proper portion control and menu preparation procedures.
  • Perform cold food preparation duties and follow universal precautions.
  • Prepare logs and charts related to food safety and leftovers.

Qualifications

Education/Training: Ability to read, recognize word and number differences, and write simple correspondence.

Experience: At least 6 months of fast food or kitchen food production experience.

Additional requirements are similar to the above, emphasizing food prep skills and experience.
