Job description

Hot Mix Plant Operator

Candidates must have 2 years of experience working at a HMA Plant and a good mechanical aptitude. We offer an excellent starting salary based on experience. Operating the machinery in an asphalt plant, which heats and mixes aggregate materials with asphalt cement to produce hot mix asphalt (HMA), ensuring the correct mix design is followed and the plant runs efficiently to produce a consistent, quality product for paving projects; essentially, they manage the entire process of creating hot mix asphalt from raw materials to loading it into trucks for delivery to the job site.

Key responsibilities of a hot mix operator:

1. Operating plant equipment:
   Monitoring and adjusting the flow of aggregate materials, asphalt cement, and recycled asphalt through the plant's conveyors, chutes, pumps, and storage bins.
2. Maintaining mix quality:
   Adjusting the proportions of materials to meet specific mix design requirements based on project specifications.
3. Quality control:
   Regularly testing samples of the hot mix asphalt to ensure it meets quality standards.
4. Monitoring plant operations:
   Watching for any malfunctions or irregularities in the plant's operation and taking corrective actions.
5. Loading trucks:
   Operating the loading system to fill trucks with the hot mix asphalt.
6. Inventory management:
   Keeping track of raw material levels and ensuring adequate inventory for production.
7. Maintenance and repairs:
   Performing routine maintenance on plant equipment and identifying any necessary repairs.
8. Safety compliance:
   Adhering to all safety procedures and protocols while operating the plant.
