Job summary

Skana Aluminum Company in Manitowoc, WI is seeking a Hot Mill Technician on 2nd shift to keep the hot mill running and to produce high-quality aluminum coils for the Midwest.

You will rotate between Hot Mill Operator and Upcoiler, perform preventative maintenance, operate a forklift, and complete daily production paperwork. Prior manufacturing experience is a plus, but training will be provided. Overtime is available.

Qualifications

• Previous machine operation experience preferred.
• A strong work ethic and reliability.
• Flexibility with scheduling, including a willingness to cross-train.
• A positive attitude and team-player mindset in a fast-paced, safety-first environment.
• Pride in keeping a clean, organized workspace.
• Prior manufacturing experience is a plus — but not required.

Responsibilities

• Operate the mill to reduce aluminum coils to proper specifications.
• Prepare coils for finishing at the Upcoiler station.
• Cut and prepare slabs using overhead crane hoists and saws.
• Coil, band, and mark finished coils for storage.
• Inspect coils and metal for quality defects and report concerns.
• Assist with roll changes, coolant tank cleaning, and general equipment maintenance.
• Perform preventive maintenance on mill equipment, including lubrication systems and filters.
• Complete shop paperwork and daily production tracking.
• Operate a forklift to store finished coils.
