U. S. Steel is seeking an experienced Industrial Electrician to maintain and troubleshoot a broad range of equipment in the hot mill area.

You will repair complex electrical systems, install new equipment per schematics, and work with maintenance and operations to uphold safety and reliability across a high-speed HM environment. The role requires a strong safety mindset, 5+ years in industrial electrical work, NFPA 70E knowledge, Siemens PLC familiarity, and the ability to read electrical,

  • HS diploma or equivalent and electrical degree or training required.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on complex electrical equipment, including PLCs, control circuits, I/O devices, and VFDs.
  • Install or modify electrical equipment following electrical codes and schematics with minimal instruction.
  • Collaborate with maintenance and operations to support safety, reliability, and productive HM team.
  • Assist in developing work safety programs, PM systems, and spare parts lists for the electrical group.

Job description

This position is an industrial electrician responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting a wide range of equipment in the hot mill area of Big River Steel facility. Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on complex electrical equipment,
including PLCs, control circuits, communication systems, I/O field devices, and VFD drives/motors.
2. Install or modify electrical equipment following electrical code, manuals, schematic diagrams,
and other specifications with minimal instruction after general assignment.
3. Work directly with all maintenance and operations personnel in a fast-paced environment to help
develop a safety focused and productive HM team and support electrical teammates to help maintain a
positive and efficient work environment focused on safety and reliability.
4. Assist in the development of a work safety program, PM system, personnel training program, and
equipment spares list for the electrical group.

2. Quality and detail oriented with strong technical and analytical problem solving skills
3. Adaptability to accept changes in job duties and eagerness to learn and apply new knowledge
4. Reliable team player with good communication skills
5. Highly motivated, self-directed, and willing to put in extra hours when needed
6. Minimum 5 years of work experience as an industrial electrician
7. Previous experience with NFPA 70E practices
8. Familiar with common electrical tools and measuring instruments
9. Experience reading electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics
10. Strong working knowledge of 480 volt 3 phase electrical distribution systems and motor control

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements: Environment is typical for a steel mill production area, with extreme temperatures, high noiselevels, and dusty/greasy areas. Physically demanding work will be required in the production environment.
