Job summary

Steel Dynamics, Inc. is seeking an electrical maintenance professional to perform repair and periodic maintenance on mill equipment. The role includes repairing electrical devices, implementing upgrades, coordinating cross-shift work, and mentoring technicians.

You will apply knowledge of high/low voltage systems, PLCs, and industrial networks to ensure reliability and productivity. Must be able to work varied shifts and on-call as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong math understanding (geometry, trigonometry).
• Ability to work without direct supervision.
• Electrical maintenance in an industrial setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair electrical devices on the line.
• Identify, design, and implement changes/upgrades to increase productivity or reliability.
• Maintain continuity between shifts and inform the team on changes affecting operations.
• Coordinate and implement project work.
• Strong understanding of the TCOS Program.
• Understand industrial networks and communication protocols.
• Understand variable frequency drives (VFDs).
• Work with high and low-voltage systems, motors, PLCs, and instrumentation.
• Available any time day or night to assist with mill issues.
• Teach and develop electrical technicians.
• Use PCs and common software/utilities effectively.

Perform electrical and electronic repair and periodic maintenance on equipment.

• Maintenance and repair of all electrical devices on the line.
• Identify, design, and implement changes/upgrades which will increase the productivity or reliability of the process.
• Maintain continuity between shifts and keep workgroup up to date on changes affecting the department and mill operations.
• Coordinate and implement project work.
• Strong Understanding of the TCOS Program.
• High School diploma or equivalent
• Understanding of mathematics (geometry, trigonometry)

• Understanding of electrical safety practices.
• Ability to work without direct supervision
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize work assignments with production needs
• Ability to manage multiple projects from start to finish.

• Strong electrical knowledge of high and low-voltage electrical systems, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, breakers and power distribution systems, motors, motor control equipment, instrumentation, and PLCs.
• Available any time day or night to take calls and assist with mill issues.
• Ability to teach and develop electrical technicians
• Advanced abilities using PCs and common software and utilities.

Preferred

• Electrical maintenance experience in an industry setting
