This is public safety work that involves providing for the care and security of inmates confined within a correctional facility or jail.

Qualifications

Applicants must pass an examination to qualify for this position. Details regarding the examination will be emailed to candidates who meet the following requirements:

  • Graduation from a standard senior high school or successful completion of the GED test, with some police or corrections related experience or training preferred; or
  • A combination of education and experience equivalent to these requirements.
Special Requirements
  • Must be at least 19 years old
  • Must possess a valid driver's license from the state of residence
  • Mobile County Sheriff's Department requires successful completion of a physical agility test administered by the Sheriff's Department
