Job summary

Ducommun, Inc. in Parsons, Kansas is seeking a Hot Form Press Operator on the D shift (Thu–Sun, 6:00pm–6:00am after training). You will set up and operate heavy duty presses to form metal parts and weldments for aerospace and industrial applications.

You will read work orders, acquire tooling, adjust press parameters, and ensure quality by inspecting parts and collecting SPC data, all while following internal procedures and ensuring safe handling of hazardous waste.

Qualifications

• Reads and interprets blueprints and work orders.
• Operates forklift and hoist.
• Uses calipers, height gauge, scales for measurements.
• Must multi-task and follow internal procedures.
• Understands verbal and written instructions and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Read, interpret, and follow work orders, data sheets, and fixtures.

• Operate hydraulic and mechanical presses.
• Install dies and adjust press stroke and tonnage.
• Operate automated argon system.
• Check own work and route to quality inspection.
• Collect SPC data per control plan.
• Maintain quality within SPC control limits.

Hot Form Press Operator - D Shift

This shift runs Thursday - Sunday, 6:00pm to 6am after training period.

Sets up and operates heavy duty power press to
bend, form, and straighten metal plates, formed sheet metal, structural shapes,
and weldments.

Job Summary

• Read, interpret, and follow work orders, mylars, check fixtures and other engineering data.
• Acquire required tooling by using internal procedures.
• Operate hydraulic and mechanical presses.
• Properly install dies into press.
• Adjust press stroke and tonnage.
• Operate automated argon system.
• Check own work and take first part to quality inspection.
• Collects SPC data according to the control plan attached to the work order.
• Makes any adjustments necessary to maintain quality parts within control limits for SPC.
• Responsible for the proper handling and management of hazardous waste generated in their work area.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints is preferred.
• Ability to operate a forklift and hoist.
• Ability to use measuring instruments including but not limited to calipers, height gage, and scales.
• Ability to multi-task is a must.
• Read and understand internal procedures and policies.
• Understand and follow through on both verbal and written instructions.
• Team oriented with a continuous improvement outlook.
• Able to learn new screens, reports, functions and simple software programs with assistance.

Required Experience and Education

• High School Diploma; up to 3 years related experience in job function and/or training; equivalent combination of education and experience
