Job summary

Pay Range: $16.43 - $20.54

YOUR ROLE

We are looking for an equipment operator who will move vehicles, trailers, and flatbeds to and from dock and yard areas to assist with loading, unloading, and yard utilization in a safe and efficient manner.

WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?
  • Develop and provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers at all times.
  • Manage loading and unloading freight by hand or by using manual equipment such as hand truck, pallet jack, or forklift. Verify and note the count and condition of cargo received, and determine when to refuse or accept with notation. Record receipts to appropriate forms and/or log books. Verify that proper documentation is attached.
  • Sort cargo received by account or intended location and store in proper location. Accurately label freight to destination.
  • Shuttle empty and full trailers within the dock area and parking lots. Transport freight from storage dock area or trailers to designated area. Secure lifting attachments to freight to move to assigned location. Stack or assemble freight into bundles and band bundles together on pallets.
  • Maintain a clean work area. Clean out trailers if needed prior to moving them.
  • Perform post or pre-load inspections on trailers and document condition of equipment and trailers before re-use or reloading, as required.
  • Verify and report damages as discovered. Perform a daily yard check.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
  • Education and Experience: High School Graduate or GED; minimum 3 years of industry driving experience may substitute for a high school diploma or GED; minimum 6 months of related experience.
  • Credentials: Valid state‑issued Class C Driver’s License issued by the driver’s home state of residence; acceptable driving record per DOT regulations, TSA regulations, and company policy. Forklift Driver Certification. DOT Dangerous Goods and Hazardous Materials Certification.
  • Skills: PC literate; capable of basic arithmetic (add, subtract, multiply, divide). Ability to operate various yard equipment. Understanding of safety rules that apply to dock and warehouse operations.
  • Characteristics: Ability to read, comprehend, and complete basic checklists, forms, or other related documents. Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner. Responds promptly and professionally to customer needs.
