Job summary

CAMPS restaurant is seeking a part-time host to greet guests as they arrive, guide them to tables or waiting areas, and manage seating flow during busy periods.

You will answer questions, provide menus, take reservations, and work with the service team to ensure a smooth, positive guest experience while maintaining a friendly, professional demeanor.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Ability to provide top-notch customer service in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to stand for long periods and lift 25–40 pounds.
  • Restaurant experience is a plus.

Job Title: Restaurant Host

Compensation: $16.90 an hour

Job Status: Part-time

Reports To: Restaurant Manager

Prepared by: Regional Manager

Job Overview

CAMPS is a busy restaurant and have an open role for host person. You will greet guests as they enter and show them to their table or waiting area. You will also engage with guests to ensure their meal is as good as it should be. To do well in this role you should be comfortable standing for long periods and managing a very busy shift.

Host Person Responsibilities:
  • Greeting guests as they enter and putting them on a waiting list as necessary.
  • Providing guests with menus and answering any initial questions.
  • Seating guests at tables or in waiting areas.
  • Seats guests and manages the seating chart.
  • Assigning guests to tables they prefer, while keeping table rotation in mind so that servers receive the right number of customers.
  • Engaging with guests to ensure they're happy with food and service.
  • Responding to complaints and helping to resolve them.
  • Answering phone calls, taking reservations and answering questions.
  • A knowledge of the menu.
  • Helping out with other positions in the restaurant as needed.
  • Providing great customer service.
  • Monitors restaurant activity to determine seating and dining flow.
  • Responds to guest inquiries and requests in a timely, friendly, and efficient manner.
  • Performs opening and closing duties, as needed,
  • Assists others with side work including, but not limited to cleaning, stocking, folding silverware, etc.
  • Helps fellow team members and other departments wherever necessary to maintain positive working relationships.
  • Use visual cues to seat Guests in either the bar or dining area depending on their preference
  • Inform Guest of current promotion and who will be serving them to ensure a smooth handoff to the service staff
Host Person Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Ability to provide top-notch customer service in a fast-paced environment.
  • A positive attitude and ability to work well under pressure with all restaurant staff.
  • Does high-quality work while unsupervised.
  • Able to work in a standing position for long periods of time.
  • Able to safely lift and easily maneuver trays of food when necessary.
  • Willing to follow instructions and ask questions for clarification if needed.
  • Able to handle money accurately and operate a point-of-sale system.
  • Able to work in a busy restaurant environment.
  • Restaurant experience a plus.

Physical Requirements:
  • Identify and distinguish colors
  • Walking and/or standing for the length of shift

  • Continual use of fine manual dexterity and gross motor skills with frequent use of bi-manual dexterity and fine motor skills
  • Able to reach hands and arms in any direction and kneel and stop repeatedly.
Working Conditions:
  • May be indoor or outdoor setting depending on service area
  • Varied weather conditions are expected
  • Will work near mechanical equipment and hot surfaces
  • Will work with aerosol and other cleaning chemicals.
Work Availability - Varied schedule to include evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours as business dictates.
