Job summary

The James is a neighborhood restaurant on James Island, Charleston, offering classic American fare and a warm, family-friendly atmosphere. We are seeking a friendly Host to be the first and lasting impression for our guests.

As Host, you will greet guests, manage reservations, communicate wait times, coordinate seating, and support the front-of-house team. Prior hospitality experience is helpful, but we value motivated applicants who share our Southern hospitality ethos.

• Experience with reservation platforms preferred (OpenTable or Resy a plus).

Who We're Looking For:

We're looking for a warm, professional, and organized Host to be the first and lasting impression for our guests.

Responsibilities:

• Greet guests with genuine hospitality and professionalism


• Manage reservations and walk-ins using a reservation platform


• Communicate wait times clearly and accurately


• Coordinate efficient and thoughtful seating to maximize service flow


• Support the front-of-house team to ensure a smooth guest experience

What You'll Bring:

• Friendly, polished, and guest-focused


• Organized, efficient, and able to multitask in a fast-paced setting


• Comfortable using reservation systems (experience with OpenTable or Resy a plus)


• A team player who communicates clearly and positively


• Previous restaurant or hospitality experience preferred, but not required
