Job Summary

A Host is part of our Food and Beverage team. A Host will provide a warm, friendly immediate greeting to guests at the door, and then seat, and present clean menus to guests in a friendly, professional, and quick manner. Position anticipated to start late April or early May.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Greet and interact with guests in a friendly and professional manner.
  2. Seat all guests in a timely and courteous fashion. Clear extra settings if not needed. Present menu to each guest.
  3. Provide guests with estimated waiting time, always maintaining a professional, courteous attitude. Accommodate special seating requests for guests whenever possible.
  4. Seat guests based on guest preferences and balancing of customer flow in service stations.
  5. Provide high chairs and booster chairs for tables with children, offer crayons and proactively assist persons with disabilities or additional needs.
  6. Answer customer questions and strive to solve customer complaints, inform other host/hostess of available tables.
  7. Answer telephone and respond to questions by guests in a professional and helpful manner.
  8. Volunteer resort information to guests showing knowledge about other restaurants, shops and locations on property and about current/upcoming events.
  9. Maintain work area/podium ensuring it is always clean and organized. Ensure menus are clean and wiped down at the end of each shift and replaced if wrinkled or soiled.
  10. Communicate with kitchen and staff to ensure steady flow of dining guests. Inform team members about special requests or large groups.
  11. Maintain a legible, accurate and organized wait list of guests. Monitor what tables are available, who is covering each section and how to seat guests alternately in each section.
  12. Inspect dining room for cleanliness, take action where needed, prepare host stand for the next day.
  13. Attend all scheduled staff meetings and supplemental training sessions.
  14. If applicable in specific outlet – use point-of-sale (POS) system to ring up to-go orders and other basic transactions.
  15. Be familiar with emergency safety measures.
  16. Other duties as assigned.

Job Specifications

  1. Experience in a restaurant is preferred.
  2. Prior point of sale (POS) system experience preferred.
  3. Ability to count back change and calculate basic math.
  4. Organizational skills.
  5. Self-directed and able to maximize use of time, resources and technology.
  6. Excellent verbal and telephone skills to be able to communicate clearly and effectively with our guests.
  7. Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
  8. Exemplifies professional conduct and adherence to company Core Values.

Education:

High School or equivalent preferred.

Physical & Other Requirements:

  1. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
  2. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
  3. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  4. Morning, evenings, weekends and holidays are a regular part of the schedule.
  5. Non-smoking candidates preferred.
