The hostess or host is responsible for greeting customers as they enter a restaurant, taking their reservation or putting them on a waiting list, giving the guest(s) menus and showing them to their seat. The host may also handle phone calls and customer queries about the restaurant and menu and assist various restaurant staff when necessary. The Food Runner is responsible for delivering food orders from the kitchen to customers’ tables rapidly and accurately. This position is responsible for ensuring each order is prepared to the restaurants and guest’s specifications. The Food Runner is expected to clearly communicate any additional orders or needs the guests may have to cook staff or expeditor (e.g., food allergies). As a hybrid position, you will be trained as and scheduled for both host and food running shifts.
