Position Summary:

A Host greets and facilitates the guest experience by scheduling reservations, organizing server sections, and maintaining an efficient customer flow. The Host is responsible for communicating feedback from customers and informing staff of menu or operational changes.

Reports to:

Assistant Manager

Job Tasks:
  1. Ensure that the dining and serving areas are properly set up and clean.
  2. Prepare and organize reservations.
  3. Greet guests in a friendly and professional manner.
  4. Communicate with management, kitchen staff, and serving staff to seat guests with menus at the appropriate tables as per the organized seating chart in an order that does not overload the kitchen or a particular server.
  5. Communicate with guests to ensure quality satisfaction with food and service.
  6. Respond appropriately to customer complaints and bring any issues to the attention of a manager.
  7. Inform guests about menu specials, entertainment, and area events.
  8. Perform cashier functions as required.
  9. Plan parties or special events.
  10. Perform marketing and other promotional services.
  11. Clean, clear, and set tables as required.
  12. Participate in end of shift side duties.
Main Responsibilities and Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Customer Service:

Must consistently be able to assess, anticipate, and meet multiple guests’ needs at high standards and evaluate customer satisfaction without projecting a mood that detracts from the guests’ experience. Practical knowledge of industry customer service standards is required.

Communication:

Must clearly communicate in a professional manner with guests, vendors, coworkers, and management. Ability to promote two-way communication by presenting clear ideas using thoughtful and responsive words. Must understand instructions, read written memorandums, and communicate when more direction is needed.

Interpersonal Relationships:

Must adapt to different personalities of guests and coworkers without losing focus. Maintaining positive relationships is essential for a team-oriented environment.

Problem Solving and Conflict Management:

Recognize problems when they arise and resolve them appropriately using good judgment, tact, and initiative according to company policy.

Quality Control and Priority Assessment:

Assess the importance of customer needs to maintain high standards of quality.

Sales Techniques and Customer Influence:

Use sales techniques and persuasive communication to up-sell products and services.

Physical Activities:

Perform moderate physical activities including climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, and handling materials.

Analytical Skills:

Use logic and reason to identify solutions and alternatives for successful outcomes, including cost/benefit analysis, quality, and conflict resolution.

Time Management Skills:

Utilize organization techniques in a fast-paced environment to ensure efficiency and respect others' time. Lead and coordinate team members to maximize efficiency.

Technical Skills:

Possess or quickly learn general accounting, mathematical skills, and point-of-sale applications.

Language Skills:

Speak and write in English with excellent command, including proper spelling and grammar.

Flexibility:

May work overtime when needed and assist with workload of others.

Initiative:

Take action frequently, collaborate with team members, and develop new ideas focused on results.
