de Lazy Lizard in Ocean City, Maryland, seeks a Host to be the first impression of our restaurant. The host will manage the waitlist, greet guests, and ensure a smooth dining experience during busy shifts.
The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, excellent organization, and the ability to work in a high-volume environment. This role includes answering guest questions, coordinating seating for groups, and maintaining a welcoming atmosphere.
At de Lazy Lizard, the Host is the first impression of the restaurant and the gatekeeper of the guest experience. In a high-volume, fast-paced tropical waterfront restaurant, the host stand controls the flow of the entire dining room — welcoming guests, managing wait times, and coordinating seating so the tides runs smoothly from the moment guests arrive.
The Host is responsible for greeting guests warmly, managing the waitlist, and seating guests efficiently throughout the restaurant while following strict server sections and computer rotation. Hosts communicate with bussers, servers, and managers to ensure tables are cleaned and ready, accurately quote wait times, and help maintain organized guest flow during busy shifts. This role requires strong organization, awareness of the dining room, and the ability to manage large groups and high guest volume while maintaining a friendly and professional demeanor. Hosts answer phones, assist with reservations when applicable, and provide guests with helpful information about the restaurant, seating options, and wait times. They maintain the host stand, manage guest paging systems when used, and help ensure entryways, waiting areas, and menus are clean and organized. During peak service, hosts must make quick decisions about seating while maintaining fairness between sections and ensuring the dining operates at maximum efficiency.
If you’re ready to greet guests, keep the dining room flowing, and help deliver an unforgettable de Lazy Lizard experience from the very first hello, we’re ready to welcome the guests in to get lazy.
