The First Impression & The Lasting One

The Host is one of the most important roles in the guest experience. From the moment a guest enters until their final goodbye, the Host sets the tone for warmth, efficiency, and hospitality. A successful host is friendly, organized, calm under pressure, and solution-oriented—always finding a way to say yes.

Core Responsibilities

• Greet and welcome each guest with a great attitude and positive body language
• Answer phones with professionalism, friendliness, and attentiveness
• Possess a working knowledge of:
  • Hours of operation
  • Menu offerings
  • Seating layout and options
  • Understand and use the OpenTable reservation system and waitlist features
  • Know seating parameters and communicate clearly what can and cannot be accommodated
• Take initiative to create a smooth guest flow, even during peak times
• Demonstrate good knowledge of the menu and basic allergen awareness
• Use the POS system to:
  • Take to-go orders
  • Process cash and credit card transactions accurately
  • Assist in bussing and resetting tables when needed
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the host area and entryway (including windows and doors)
• Execute opening and closing procedures as assigned
• Complete other duties as assigned
