Description of Work
University Housing is looking for a motivated, caring individual to join our team working daytime hours in a student living environment. Oversee up to 7 custodians as designated by Facilities Assistant Manager. Responsible for the cleaning of residential floor and public areas to provide students with a clean environment and maintain established cleanliness guidelines. Cleaning tasks include but are not limited to bathrooms, public lounges, laundry rooms, stairwells, dining room, tile floors and carpeting. Responsibilities include filling in for staff absences, supervising full-time regular and student employees in cleaning residence hall facilities, assist in custodial training, supply distribution and inventory control. Ability to transition smoothly from academic year schedules to summer conference schedules. Must have ability or possess the ability to learn basic computer skills; i.e., checking emails, using training modules, accessing personnel/employment benefits and other information. May be required to be on-call during evening and weekend hours. Pesticide applicator certification required within one year of hire.

Minimum Required Qualifications
High school plus two years of custodial experience; equivalency considered. The ability to follow oral and written instructions necessary. Must be able to issue written instructions, prepare written reports and issue clear verbal instructions. Able to lead and work effectively with others necessary. The ability to understand cleaning, chemicals and their application and dilution ratios necessary. Must have ability to operate all types of custodial equipment and be able to lift 35 lbs required.
Preferred Qualifications
Supervisory experience and basic computer skills preferred.
