Description of Work

At the University of Nebraska, the Hospitality Service team member plays a meaningful role in maintaining safe, healthy, and welcoming environments for students, staff, faculty, and guests in various settings. Responsibilities include performing routine cleaning and general upkeep of offices, residential halls, public areas, bathrooms, conference rooms, dining centers, locker and shower rooms, and other areas as needed. This role ensures a clean, safe, and well-maintained environment.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Cleaning and maintaining hard floor surfaces and carpet areas.
  • Mixing cleaning solutions per instructions.
  • Event setup and/or conference operations duties based on location.
  • Working on call, including Blood Borne Pathogens cleanup and response during emergencies.
  • Using all non-riding and non-autonomous equipment.
  • Ordering supplies.

Positions may be hired at a higher level depending upon candidate qualifications, and performance will be assessed to determine the ability to perform skills at an acceptable level.

Minimum Required Qualifications

Eighth grade education or equivalency. Ability to follow written and oral instructions. Understanding of cleaning chemicals and their application and dilution ratios. Excellent customer service skills. Availability via cell phone during working hours. Ability to lift 35 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications

Custodial experience preferred.

  • Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required. Subject to DOT approved pre-employment & random testing for alcohol and controlled substances.
