The Study at University of Chicago seeks a dependable, observant Security Officer to join our hotel team in Chicago, IL. This role protects guests, team members, and property through patrols, monitoring, and incident response.

The successful candidate is calm, professional, and guest-focused, able to balance vigilance with hospitality. Reporting to the Director of Rooms, you’ll collaborate with Front Office, Housekeeping, Engineering, and leadership to maintain a safe, welcoming environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of 1 year of previous security, hospitality, public safety, military, or related experience preferred.
• Ability to remain observant, calm, professional, and composed when responding to emergencies, disturbances, or challenging situations.

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine patrols of hotel interiors and exteriors to identify suspicious activity, safety hazards, or other unusual conditions.
• Monitor CCTV and surveillance systems and respond appropriately to unusual or suspicious activity.
• Maintain a visible and professional security presence throughout the property.
• Monitor hotel entry points, verify vendor credentials, and help prevent unauthorized access to restricted areas.
• Respond to emergencies including fire alarms, medical incidents, disturbances, accidents, and other safety concerns.
• Document security incidents and incidents through clear and detailed written reports.
• Respond to and help resolve guest or team member disputes while maintaining a calm, professional environment.
