Ivy Tech Bloomington campus is seeking a part-time Hospitality Program Assistant to support the student-run coffee shop and promote the Hospitality Program through social media and marketing activities. The role offers practical hands-on experience in hospitality, customer service, and business operations while creating a welcoming environment for guests and engaging current and prospective students.

Typical hours are 20 hours per week, including occasional evenings or events.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting campus hospitality or coffee shop operations.
  • Ability to assist with social media and marketing activities.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day operations of the student-run coffee shop.
  • Open and close the coffee shop according to procedures.
  • Prepare and serve coffee, beverages, and light foods with quality.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to students, staff, and visitors.
  • Monitor inventory and assist with purchasing decisions.
  • Maintain cleanliness and food safety standards.
  • Operate POS transactions and keep accurate records.
  • Assist in training student workers and volunteers.
  • Support coffee shop promotions and events.
  • Collaborate on social media content aligning with branding.
  • Support hospitality program events and community outreach.
  • Provide administrative support and organize materials.
  • Represent the Hospitality Program professionally.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Ivy Tech Bloomington campus is searching for part time help to support the daily operations of the student run coffee shop and assist with the promotion of the Hospitality Program through social media and marketing activities. Typical Hours: 20 hours per week, including occasional evenings or special events as needed. This position pays $15.75/hr

Position Summary

The Hospitality Program Assistant supports the daily operations of the student-run coffee shop and assists with the promotion of the Hospitality Program through social media and marketing activities. This role provides students with practical hospitality, customer service, and business operations experience while helping create a welcoming environment for guests and increasing engagement with current and prospective students.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Coffee Shop Operations
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the student-run coffee shop.
  • Open and close the coffee shop according to established procedures.
  • Prepare and serve coffee, beverages, and light food items while maintaining quality and consistency standards.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to students, employees, and community visitors.
  • Monitor inventory levels and assist lab tech by providing information on what supplies and merchandise need to be purchased.
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and food safety standards throughout the coffee shop.
  • Operate and reconcile point-of-sale (POS) transactions and maintain accurate records.
  • Assist with training and coordinating student workers and volunteers.
  • Support coffee shop promotions, special events, and customer engagement activities.
Social Media and Marketing Support
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to highlight program achievements and upcoming activities.
  • Ensure social media content aligns with institutional branding and communication guidelines.
General Program Support
  • Assist with hospitality program events, recruiting activities, and community outreach efforts.
  • Provide administrative support as needed, including organizing materials and maintaining records.
  • Represent the Hospitality Program in a professional and positive manner.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
