Job summary

The Veterans Health Administration seeks a Section Chief Hospitalist at Robley Rex VA Medical Center in Louisville to lead the Hospitalist Program with clinical oversight and operational management.

You will oversee inpatient care, set policies, coordinate with teams, and mentor staff, ensuring compliance with VA standards. This federal role offers competitive pay and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in spoken and written English.
• Preferred teaching experience for at least 2 years.
• Board-certified or board-eligible in Internal Medicine.
• Current full and unrestricted medical license in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct inpatient care as attending physician on the hospitalist service.
• Lead the hospitalist team including staff physicians and residents.
• Develop and implement clinical policies, procedures, and protocols.
• Oversee daily operations of the inpatient Medicine Service and coordinate with other services.
• Mentor and evaluate medical students, residents, and advanced providers.
• Ensure compliance with VA, federal, and Joint Commission standards.
