About The Position

Shift: Night
Schedule: 7pm - 7am
ICU: Open
Procedures: Not Required

Geisinger Lewistown Hospital is a 123-bed acute care community hospital serving approximately 80,000 residents across Mifflin and Juniata counties, as well as neighboring counties. Established in 1905, the hospital offers inpatient, outpatient, wellness, and community services, employing over 1,000 staff and a medical staff of more than 150 physicians across various specialties.

Position Summary
  • The night team includes one physician and one APP, who assist with cross-covering floors and admissions.
  • Occasionally, a second- or third-year Family Medicine resident may assist with coverage and admissions.
  • Opportunities for moonlighting and teaching are available.
  • ICU coverage at night involves a critical care APP and EICU backup. Nocturnists do not typically admit or round on ICU patients but may be requested to assist during high workload periods.
  • Responsibilities include patient interviews, diagnostics, treatment planning, medication administration, and record keeping.
  • Work is performed in clinical and office settings, with compliance to organizational policies.
