BJC Medical Group is seeking a Regional Hospitalist Medical Director.

The Regional Hospitalist Medical Director is responsible for providing strategic, clinical, and operational leadership for hospital medicine programs across five distinct markets. This leader ensures high-quality, patient-centered care, aligns with organizational goals, and fosters collaboration among interdisciplinary teams. The role involves developing best practices, driving performance improvement, and expanding hospital medicine services while adapting to each market's needs within BJC East.

Work Environment: This position requires frequent travel between local markets and facilities. Flexibility to adapt to diverse operational needs is essential. It is a 0.8 administrative role with 0.2 clinical FTE spread across markets.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5-7 years in hospital medicine, including at least 3 years in leadership or administration.
  • Proven ability to manage multi-site or multi-market operations effectively.
  • Success in quality improvement, clinical program development, team leadership, and change management.
  • Experience in graduate medical education is preferred.

  • Integrate innovative care models, including telemedicine.
Clinical Oversight:
  • Ensure clinical excellence and adherence to protocols.
  • Monitor quality metrics and drive continuous improvement.
  • Champion patient safety and care standardization.
  • Support complex patient care and clinical decision-making.
Operational Management:
  • Oversee staffing, provider schedules, and recruitment.
  • Manage budgets and resource allocation.
  • Address operational challenges with hospital leaders.
  • Ensure compliance with standards and policies.
Team Leadership & Development:
  • Mentor hospitalists and APPs.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration and accountability.
  • Serve as liaison between teams and leadership.
Performance Metrics & Reporting:
  • Track KPIs like length of stay, readmissions, patient satisfaction, and provider productivity.
  • Provide performance updates and strategic insights to leadership.
Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Build relationships with providers, administrators, and community partners.
  • Represent the service line in initiatives.
  • Advocate for resources and policies supporting hospitalists.
