Job summary

St. Tammany Health System in Covington, Louisiana is seeking a Hospitalist to provide care for hospitalized adult general medical patients as the admitting or consulting physician.

This full-time position consists of 12-hour shifts for 7 days followed by 7 days off. Candidates must hold an MD or DO degree and be board certified in the appropriate specialty.

Strong experience with hospitalized patients is essential and licensure by the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners is required.

Minimum Qualifications

MD or DO degree and Board Certification in the appropriate specialty. Must have background and experience caring for hospitalized patients, be licensed by the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners, and be a member in good standing of the St. Tammany Parish Hospital Medical Staff.

Physical Demands

Must possess good physical health. Some requirements include:

• Standing, sitting, or walking for long periods of time.
• Lifting at least 20 pounds.
• Ability to work with moderate level of noise.

Physical Effort Required

• Constant (67%-100%) – handling/feeling, talking, hearing, seeing.
• Frequently (34%-66%) – reaching.
• Occasionally (1%-33%) – lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, climbing (stairs, ladders, etc.), balancing, stooping, crouching.
