University of Missouri - Columbia seeks a Hospital Medicine Physician Assistant to join the Department of Community Practice-Medicine. The role focuses on independent medical support, treatment planning, and team-based patient care within MU Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City, MO.

The incumbent will conduct exams, document thoroughly, educate patients on treatment plans, and participate in quality improvement initiatives while supporting physicians and nursing staff in a fast-paced

Qualifications

• PA licensure by Missouri Board of Registration for the Healing Arts.
• NCCPA Specialty Certificate in Hospital Medicine or related sub-specialty.
• Ability to work autonomously in a hospitalist setting.

Responsibilities

• Provide independent medical support in collaboration with physicians and department staff.
• Develop and implement treatment plans, monitor progress, and modify plans as needed.
• Serve as a key resource for patients, families, nursing staff, and other professionals.
• Address and resolve patient and family concerns regarding healthcare services.
• Ensure accurate and timely documentation, including dictations and charting.
• Review and support patient paperwork requests and oversee sign-off processes.
• Respond to patient inquiries regarding procedures, treatments, prescriptions, referrals, and therapy orders.
• Conduct patient examinations, obtain histories, and relay essential medical information to physicians.
• Demonstrate autonomy in diagnosing and treating conditions while applying current research.
