Job summary

The University of Missouri - Columbia's Department of Community Practice, MU CRMC, announces an opening for a Hospitalist Nurse Practitioner Specialty Care to join the expanding team.

The role provides independent medical support, develops treatment plans with physicians, and participates in quality improvement efforts within a busy hospital medicine setting in Jefferson City, Missouri. This is a full-time position with a rotating 7am–7pm shift.

Qualifications

• Master of Science in Nursing degree.
• Missouri RN license or Nurse Licensure Compact multistateRN.
• Must be granted a “Document of Recognition” from the Missouri Board of Nursing.

Responsibilities

• Provide independent medical support services in collaboration with physicians and department staff.
• Develop and implement treatment plans, monitor patient progress, and modify plans as needed.
• Serve as a key resource for patients, families, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals within the sub-specialty area.
• Address and resolve patient and family concerns regarding healthcare services.
• Ensure accurate and timely documentation, including dictations and charting.
• Review and support patient paperwork requests, manage documents requiring signature, and oversee message resolution.
• Respond to patient inquiries regarding procedures, treatments, prescriptions, referrals, therapy orders, and other medical concerns.
• Conduct patient physical examinations, obtain and document thorough histories, and relay essential medical information to physicians.
• Demonstrate high autonomy in diagnosing and treating health conditions while applying current research in a clinical setting.
• Identify patient-related trends and contribute to quality improvement, administrative, and educational initiatives within the department.
