Job summary

Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, IA, is seeking a Hospital Medicine Physician to join a close-knit team of clinicians. The role offers opportunities to collaborate across hospital services while maintaining a strong focus on patient care and clinically diverse cases.

Board-certified or eligible in family medicine or internal medicine is preferred. We sponsor H1B visas and provide in-house licensing/credentialing support; visa filing fees are covered by Sound.

Qualifications

• Board-certified or eligible in family medicine or internal medicine.
• All levels of experience are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Manage cases with varying acuity and complexity.
• Critical care team handles ICU patients on vents, pressors, and BiPAP; ICU patients are few and manageable.
• Procedures are optional; not required but available.
• Respond to codes and rapid alerts; team collaborates to support each other.

Scheduling:

• Scheduling is a team effort. While most shifts are days, everyone rotates mid-shifts monthly and takes minimal night shifts.
• Flexibility is key in a block schedule; this team supports it whenever possible.

Key Responsibilities:

• We welcome the challenge of managing various cases, varying in acuity and complexity.
• Our critical care team manages all ICU patients on vents, pressors, and BiPAP. Our team may have a patient or two in the ICU; however, they have lower acuity and are very manageable.
• If you are comfortable with procedures, you can do them. However, they are not required.
• We respond to codes and rapid alerts on our patients, as well as if one is called and we are nearby. Our team is highly engaged in helping each other in any way we can.
