Brainerd, Minnesota, Hospitalist Job
- Clinical Role:
- Flexibility to split with outpatient Family Medicine or Internal Medicine if desired.
- Pay incentive for extra shifts.
- Full-time equivalent = 24 weeks/year.
- Well-established Hospitalist program and "Top 100 Rural Hospital in America".
- 162-bed hospital and Level III Trauma Center.
- Schedule: 7 on 7 off, 12-hour shifts.
- Hospitalists will cover Med/Surg & ICU, including ventilator co-management with intensivist, RT, and remote support from Duluth.
- Current team includes 10 physicians and 2 NPs.
- Opportunity to teach and precept medical and PA students, with potential for future program leadership.
- Patient volume: 13-16 patients per day, per hospitalist (rounding and admitting).
- Average inpatient practice volume per day: Med Surg-50 / ICU-10. Average daily census on unit: 50-60.
- Facilities include Marilyn Covey Heart & Vascular Center and St. Joseph's Cancer Center.
- Certified Primary Stroke Center, with co-management with stroke neurology, growing cardiovascular program, and top-performing sepsis care.
- The Hospitalist team manages codes and rapid responses.
- No procedures required; general surgery performs central lines.

- Qualifications: BC/BE in Internal Medicine or Hospitalist Residency, or Family Medicine with Hospitalist experience.
- Current ACLS certification required.
- Option to pursue FCCS course for additional critical care education.
