Position Title

Hospitalist PA or APRN - PRN at Great Bend Hospital

Position Summary / Career Interest

The Physician Assistant provides primary care in collaboration with physicians and other healthcare team members to a specific patient population in outpatient and/or inpatient settings. They maintain advanced knowledge and skills in health promotion, disease prevention, assessment, and management of health and illness.

Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions
  1. Collect and assess initial and ongoing data about the health status of patients.
  2. Develop and revise individualized care plans with expected outcomes for patients and their families, reflecting the healthcare team's approach.
  3. Perform interventions safely and in compliance with policies to achieve expected outcomes.
  4. Evaluate patient responses to interventions and therapies based on expected outcomes.
  5. Provide patient education by explaining procedures, medications, and instructions in understandable language; address questions and concerns; verify informed consent when needed.
  6. Document and communicate all components of patient care accurately.
  7. Perform professional, clinical, and technical competencies required for the assigned unit or department.
  8. Note: Responsibilities are essential but not exhaustive; duties may vary by department or unit, and additional duties may be assigned.
Required Education and Experience
  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant Program.
Preferred Education and Experience
  • Three or more years of experience preferred.
Required Licensure and Certification
  • Physician Assistant-Certified (PA-C) by NCCPA or within 6-12 months of employment.
  • Licensed Physician Assistant (PA) by the State Board of Healing Arts.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS or BCLS) certification from the American Heart Association, or must complete BLS within the first two weeks of employment.
