The University of Iowa is seeking a PA/ARNP Hospitalist in the Department of Surgery, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. You will join a multidisciplinary team providing comprehensive care, perioperative management, and education to patients and staff at UI Main campus in Iowa City.

The role emphasizes independent clinical decision-making, collaboration with surgeons, and potential first assist responsibilities in the OR, with a strong focus on quality care and outcomes in a teaching hospital

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited PA educational program and/or NCCPA certification.
• Eligible to be licensed by the State of Iowa to perform as a Physician Associate.
• Active DEA license or ability to apply for such a license upon hire.
• Active BLS certification.
• Professional job-related experience fostering or promoting a welcoming and respectful work/academic environment.

Responsabilités

• Provide patient care that is compassionate, appropriate, and effective for health promotion and illness prevention.
• Develop and implement outpatient treatment plans with multidisciplinary teams, including admissions and perioperative management.
• Write consultations, admissions, daily progress, and postoperative notes accurately for billing and documentation.
• Perform procedures as privileging allows (e.g., wound care, laceration repair, wound debridement, casting) and potentially assist in the operating room.
• Educate patients, families, residents, and nursing staff about treatment plans.
