Job summary

Fairview Southdale Hospital seeks a Nurse Practitioner to join the Hospitalist Program in a dual role as House provider and Hospitalist. The APP provides in-hospital care to inpatients, outpatients, and on-site visitors with 24/7 coverage; on-site physicians back up, role largely autonomous, with admissions, observation, and rounding responsibilities.

House and Hospitalist duties include rapid response leadership, x-ray/lab interpretation, and participation in disaster exercises.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a school of nursing and accredited Adult/Gero, Acute Care, or Family Nurse Practitioner training program.
• BC/BE through the AANP or ANCC.
• Licensed or ability to obtain APRN license with the Minnesota Board of Nursing.
• Ability to obtain and/or maintain DEA certification for the State of Minnesota.
• Meet threshold criteria/qualifications for Credentialing and Privileges.

Responsibilities

• Provides in-hospital medical staff coverage at specified hours as scheduled.
• Provides face to face evaluations of in-hospital patients requiring restraint and seclusion.
• Responds and leads all rapid response team calls (altered mental status, chest pain evaluation, respiratory distress, cardiac/resp arrest, etc.).
• Evaluates and treats in-hospital medical/surgical emergencies and inpatient problems.
• Preliminary interpretation of x-rays and/or labs included in emergency work up.
• Participates in disaster emergencies, real and/or practice.
• Hours are days or nights (6:30am-7pm and 6:30pm-7am).
• Weekends are every 3rd rotation.
• See patients exclusively in hospital setting; provide day and evening inpatient coverage on a rotating basis.

Education

Graduate of a nursing program; Adult/Gero, Acute Care, or Family Nurse Practitioner training

BC/BE through AANP or ANCC

Minnesota APRN license or eligibility

DEA certification for MN

Credentialing and Privileges readiness
