BSW Hospitalist Medical Director

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced medical director to lead our practice of over 30 providers at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – McKinney. The director will oversee daily operations of the hospitalist group, including staffing, scheduling, and quality initiatives, in collaboration with hospital departments and leadership. The role offers the opportunity to work within a well-established practice supported by hospital leadership.

The Physician HTPN examines and treats patients with various conditions. Responsibilities include taking patient histories, requesting tests, diagnosing, prescribing treatments, administering vaccinations, performing follow-up exams, and educating patients on disease prevention and health maintenance. The Physician HTPN also supervises allied health and advanced practice professionals.

Essential Functions of the Role

  1. Examine, record, and maintain patient information such as medical history, reports, and examination results.
  2. Prescribe or administer treatments, therapies, medications, vaccinations, and other medical care to treat or prevent illnesses.
  3. Order, perform, and interpret tests; review records, reports, and examination data to diagnose conditions.
  4. Collaborate with a clinical team including technicians, advanced practice professionals, and physicians; make judgments on tests, diagnoses, and treatments.
  5. Monitor patient conditions and progress; reevaluate treatments as needed.
  6. Diagnose and treat conditions within the specialty area.
  7. Develop post-operative care plans; recommend lifestyle changes involving diet, exercise, and other factors.
  8. Supervise clinical activities of the care team, which may include other providers and allied health professionals.
  9. Create, lead, and participate in training and education programs related to hospitalist care.
  10. Contribute to the development and implementation of best practices, policies, and programs for performance improvement, medical management, quality assessment, utilization review, risk management, and cost reduction across units.

  1. Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) required.
  2. Board Certified in Internal Medicine.
  3. 3-5 years of practice or clinical management experience.
  4. Strong communication and collaboration skills essential for working effectively with healthcare professionals.
