BSW Hospitalist Medical Director

Job Summary

Seeking an experienced medical director to lead our practice of 30+ providers at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – McKinney. The role involves managing daily operations of the hospitalist group, including staffing, scheduling, and quality initiatives, while collaborating with hospital departments and leadership. The position offers the advantage of a well-established practice and supportive hospital leadership.

The Physician HTPN examines and treats patients with various conditions, taking histories, requesting tests, diagnosing, and prescribing treatments. Responsibilities also include administering vaccinations, conducting follow-up exams, and patient education on disease prevention and health maintenance. The Physician HTPN supervises allied health and advanced practice professionals' clinical activities.

Essential Functions of the Role

  1. Examine, record, and maintain patient information, including medical histories and examination results.
  2. Prescribe or administer treatments, therapies, medications, vaccinations, and other medical care to treat or prevent illnesses.
  3. Order, perform, and interpret tests; review reports and examination data for diagnosis.
  4. Collaborate with a clinical team of technicians, advanced practice professionals, and physicians to make diagnostic and treatment decisions.
  5. Monitor patient progress and adjust treatments as needed.
  6. Diagnose and treat conditions within the specialty area.
  7. Develop post-operative care plans and recommend lifestyle modifications such as diet and exercise.
  8. Supervise the clinical activities of care teams, including other providers and allied health professionals.
  9. Develop and participate in training programs related to hospitalist care.
  10. Contribute to the development and implementation of best practices, policies, and quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

  1. Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) required.
  2. Board Certified in Internal Medicine.
  3. 3-5 years of practice or clinical management experience.
  4. Strong communication and collaboration skills essential for working effectively with healthcare teams.
